Oliver Russell Warren

Oliver Russell Warren “Rusty”, 78, of Quincy passed away peacefully in Reno, NV on July 5, 2019.  Rusty was born on November 28,1940  in Stockton, CA to Russell and Reva Warren.   

Rusty is survived by his loving companion and partner Andrea Gulick. Granddaughter Lydia Sandlin and grandson Jake Sandlin . Sister Karren Stapp and brother-in-law Dennis Stapp.  Nieces Jennifer Burrows and Jami Burrows. Nephews Gregg McKay and Eric Burrows.  His partner’s children Annette and Tim Tillberg, Alisa and Gordy Peard, and Anthony and Laura DeMartini.  Mother of his son Randy,  Nelda Warren.

Rusty was preceded in death by his son, Randy Warren,  sister Barbara Burrows and brother-in-law James Burrows.  

Rusty graduated from Red Bluff Union High School, Red Bluff, CA in 1959.

Rusty worked in farming and the timber industry as a faller until 1963 when he then started working at a local saw shop in Quincy.  In 1980 he opened and operated his chain saw business, Rusty Warren’s.  He was one of the largest Husqvarna shops in eastern California, which he owned and operated for 35 years, retiring in 2013.  Rusty was known for his ability to build hot-rod saws.  He was also known for his ability as the top saw doctor in North Eastern California.  

Rusty had a great relationship with his shop neighbors. With all of his Husqvarna snowblowers, lawnmowers, tractors, wood splitters and equipment left outside through the night and weekends, his neighbors became known as his night watchmen.  They also teased Rusty about being wealthy ànd burying his treasures outside. Teasing in return, Rusty would sneek outside with a flashlight, knowing he was being watched, he would dig a shallow hole and placed a can in the hole.

Rusty competed in snowmobile racing in 1970-1972.  He also competed in chain saw logging competitions for ten years.  He loved hunting, fishing, and camping.  

Rusty enjoyed retirement traveling with his companion Andrea Gulick.  He loved watching his favorite TV show, Gunsmoke.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Quincy Elks Lodge on Saturday, July 27 from 1 to 3 pm.   Please bring your fond memories of Rusty.
